In 2025, CARU celebrates its 25th anniversary. What started with a small team and a clear vision has grown into an international organisation active in eight countries. One thing has remained constant throughout those years: the belief that long term success is only possible when people, planet and performance are in balance.
In our Impact Report 2025, we share how this belief translated into concrete actions and measurable results across Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) over the past year.
Environment: From Measurement to Meaningful Action
In 2025, CARU took important steps to improve both the quality and usability of its emissions data. By transitioning to a new carbon accounting approach based on actual activities rather than averages, we gained clearer insight into where emissions occur and where our efforts can have the greatest impact.
Our environmental approach focuses on four key areas:
Measuring what matters: with improved insight into transport movements and Scope 3 emissions
Avoiding emissions: by making more conscious travel choices and reducing unnecessary movements
Reducing emissions within our own operations: including energy‑efficient office renovations, solar panels and electrification of equipment
Insetting: taking the first step in 2025 to address unavoidable emissions within our own value chain by supporting lower‑carbon fuels in maritime shipping
Circularity also remained a core theme. Containers reaching the end of their lifecycle are largely recycled. By working with a limited number of trusted recycling partners, CARU strengthens both environmental performance and the transparency and reliability of its sustainability data.
People & Society: Moving Forward Together
With 100 colleagues across eight countries, people remain at the heart of CARU. This is reflected in continued attention to health and safety, development, inclusion and social engagement.
Colleagues actively participated in sports and vitality programmes, while the renovation of our headquarters resulted in a more energy‑efficient workspace that supports collaboration and well‑being.
CARU also continued to engage with social initiatives, ranging from youth sports to local community projects worldwide. Additionally, CARU became the main sponsor of Excelsior Women, reinforcing our commitment to equal opportunities and development through sport.
Governance: Building for Continuity
At CARU, governance goes beyond policies and structures. It takes shape through long‑term investments in people, systems and partnerships.
The Management Traineeship was relaunched to deliberately build internal leadership capacity. In addition, the implementation of NOVA, our custom‑built ERP system, was successfully completed. NOVA provides one integrated platform for processes, data and reporting, supporting consistent decision‑making and international growth.
On an international level, CARU continued to strengthen durable relationships, including the opening of an office in Dubai and strategic partnerships within the port and logistics sector.
Looking Ahead
The Impact Report 2025 shows that impact is not a standalone project, but the result of many conscious decisions. After 25 years, CARU continues to evolve: practical, focused and committed to the long term.
